Birmingham County Football Association Joins the Climate Action for Associations Collective

We are pleased to announce that the Birmingham County Football Association (BCFA) has joined the CAFA Collective. By joining CAFA, BCFA continue to show its dedication to climate action in grassroots football throughout Birmingham, the Black Country, Coventry, and Warwickshire.

The BCFA has done significant work on sustainability internally, but it is also working hard to ensure that this is cascaded through grassroots football and sports in general. This year, BCFA was recognised for its excellence in sustainable development through its acclaimed Save Today, Play Tomorrow programme and received the inaugural King’s Award for Enterprise for Sustainable Development.

Save Today, Play Tomorrow is the first-of-its-kind sustainability programme in the UK, committed to transforming the way grassroots sports clubs approach their environmental, social, and economic impacts.

Richard Lindsay, Sustainability & Business Insights Manager at BCFA, stated:

“Joining the CAFA Collective highlights our strong commitment to sustainability and climate action. As we work to reduce our own emissions we will continue to empower and educate our 1000 member clubs to play their role in decarbonising the game directly through the planned initiatives, products and services that form the Save Today, Play Tomorrow programme. This membership provides us with a valuable platform to drive positive change and learn from best practice shared by other organisations across diverse industries."

Alison Heppenstall, CEO of Climate Action for Associations, added:

"We are delighted to welcome BCFA into the CAFA Collective as a leader in sustainability, not only through its impressive internal initiatives but also in its work with the 1000+ sports clubs that it represents. BCFA’s commitment to reducing its emissions and actively engaging its member clubs sets a powerful example of how associations can influence ambitious climate action and make an impact."

As BCFA continue to introduce new ideas and work to inspire change, we encourage other organisations about how they can also take climate action.
